“God’s Mighty Power at Work”

I read this title and I get excited! The entire month we have focused on the abundant life God wants for all of His children. I hear other pastors and christians say, God doesn’t want you happy, He wants you holy. I just want to say, in Christ I am holy and that makes me incredibly happy! Seriously how many times does Christ literally say, “blessed are  those,” (you fill in the blank) Blessed means happy or joyful.

Every Sunday this month I began my sermon reading John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. Does this sound like God wants His children to live miserable, mundane and negative lives? I was reminded of a scripture written in Psalm 119:1-2 this morning, Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. As followers of Christ our joy is seeking the Lord and walking in His ways. In today’s scripture we are reminded of the work God is doing in His children and nothing is impossible.

Ephesians 3:20-21

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

My brothers and sisters please take the time to truly read and meditate on this passage. I know I have shared it on countless occasions but let the Spirit speak to you!

Paul begins by saying, “ALL glory to God!” My friends everything we do, say and even think should be for the glory of God, Why? Because He is able! Now, you maybe thinking, of course God is able but what about me? I had a conversation with a dear friend yesterday, we were talking about loving people who are somewhat difficult to love. I am sure even as you read these words a face or name came to mind. We can all relate to this truth. But nevertheless we are told by Christ Himself to love others the way He loves us. There is a lot I could say about this subject but what I want you to hear are the words we read in today’s scripture. “GOD’S MIGHTY POWER IS AT WORK IN YOU!” Let God love through you rather than trying to love in your flesh and feelings. God’s love has no expectations, He is going to love you regardless of your response. We find it hard to love others because we expect a positive response and when it doesn’t happen we get offended or angry. This is not the love of God, it is the natural love of humans.

Notice the next words in our scripture. When we partner and allow God to do His work, He will accomplish more than we might ask or think! What God is telling us, you are right, you will NEVER be able to love others like I can through you. But if you let God and His mighty power work in and through you, His love will be a natural response. Your life will reflect His love and glory to everyone you interact with and encounter.

Father, thank you for blessing those who diligently seek You with all of their hearts!! AMEN!
