“Go and be reconciled”

Before we look at today’s scripture I want to share a very familiar scripture with you. I think it will help clarify our devotion today.

Romans 12:1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.

As you read today’s scripture keep in mind the sacrifice we offer is ourselves.

Matthew 5:23-24

“So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, 24 leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

Once again Jesus is teaching His disciples and the multitudes which is part of the Sermon on the Mount. Of course this is before the death and final sacrifice needed for the forgiveness of sin. Romans 12:1 tells  us; now we offer ourselves as living sacrifices.

If we want to faithfully offer ourselves to the Lord but we remember that someone has something against us. We must stop what w are doing and go make it right. Jesus does not say, think about it, pray about it, go talk to your friend about it, NO! Jesus said; “GO BE RECONCILED!”

He is not talking out our unforgiveness but the possibility that someone else has a problem with you. Let’s be honest, what we want to do is ignore or avoid that individual. I mean, if they have a problem with me, that is their problem, they need to get right with God. Unfortunately that is not the teaching or the example Jesus gives us. We are told to make it right! Why? Jesus values peace, unity and harmony among His people. We are told to live at peace with ALL people as much as it depends on us.

Do you want to glorify God today? Then you must be sensitive to what the Spirit is doing and saying in your life regarding your relationships. My friends, do what is right, be reconciled!
