Forgiveness, Humility and Love

I pray you took time yesterday to remember, contemplate and thank God for His incredible sacrifice. Jesus Christ died so we can live!

Today we will look at a familiar event that took place in the life of Christ. Jesus was invited to eat with a certain Pharisee. While eating an immoral woman came with a beautiful alabaster jar full of expensive perfume. She began pouring the oil on the feet of Jesus and wiping it with her hair. Please read the entire story it is such a beautiful picture of forgiveness, humility and love!

Luke 7:47-48

“I tell you, her sins—and they are many—have been forgiven, so she has shown me much love. But a person who is forgiven little shows only little love.” 48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”

In these two verse we read the climax of the story. Throughout we can see the confusion and critical spirit of the Pharisee. Why could this man not see and realize the incredible act of worship this woman was doing? First, he only saw this woman as a sinner. Second, he never saw his own personal need for a Savior. He saw himself as a good religious man, his good deeds was all he needed to be saved.

You maybe reading this and you accepted Christ as a young person. You listen to the testimonies of others and think I have never experienced those things. Let me tell you, Jesus would have said the same about  me as he did this woman, “Scott’s sin and they are many.” Yes, I had many but for every man, woman and child the sin that separates us from God is rejection of Jesus Christ. No one can look in the mirror and say, I am just not that bad. We are ALL born sinners and we need a Savior. Jesus forgave everyone when He proclaimed it is finished. We must humble ourselves realizing we need a Savior and Jesus is that Savior, the ONE and ONLY! We receive His love and then we go and share His love with others!

Of course some of us have sinned more than others. But everyone has been forgiven so much, therefore we should love much! No one deserves God’s love and salvation, it is a gift from God. So as you have freely received God’s everlasting love, GO and freely love others!

My friends, remember the Saturday between the death of Jesus and His resurrection. Jesus enters hell and defeats satan the enemy. Therefore satan is still alive but he has NO POWER over those who are in Christ! Rejoice and be glad, The Lamb has OVERCOME!!
