“Faith and Forgiveness 3”
Today we read one of the greatest invitations to place your faith in the Lord found in the scriptures. He is inviting His chosen people to come and believe. God has already chosen them, He has already claimed them as His own but they must choose to believe Him.
This is the same in the New Covenant. God so loved the world that He gave His Son to die so that everyone can be forgiven and set free. But we must believe in the finish work on the cross, we must place our faith in Jesus.
Isaiah 55:6-7
Seek the Lord while you can find Him. Call on Him now while he is near. 7 Let the wicked change their ways and banish the very thought of doing wrong. Let them turn to the Lord that He may have mercy on them. Yes, turn to our God, for He will forgive generously.
Before you continue to read, please read all of this incredible chapter. You can truly see the heart and desire of God, your Creator. It will also help you understand the depth of this devotion.
God Almighty is inviting everyone to seek Him while there is still time. This is even more important today considering approximately 2700 years have passed since this was written. Jesus is coming, I have no idea when but I can assure you He will be back! God is not only calling those who are good, He includes the wicked. Let me remind you, anyone who has not placed their faith in Jesus is considered wicked in God’s eyes by His standards. The wick are told to change their minds and banish the thoughts of doing wrong. We are taught in Romans 12:2, let God change the way we think. Why? We can read in Isaiah 55:8, Gods thoughts and ways are not like ours therefore if we want to seek Him with all our hearts we must be willing to give up our own ways!
God’s desire then and now is to show love, mercy, forgiveness and salvation. It is God’s will that ALL will repent and turn to Him, He doesn’t want even one to perish. This ends up being a two fold message. First, if you have not placed your faith in Jesus, today is the day. Seriously what are you waiting for? It is the greatest decision you can ever make in your life? Second, as believers and followers of Jesus Christ do you see others with the same compassion as God has for them? Are you willing to extend love, mercy and forgiveness to those who have hurt, disappointed or rejected you?
My friends the Lord is coming back, are you ready?
