“The True Light”
Jesus has many names that help us understand His character, position and power. One of the Names of Jesus is “Light of the World” Jesus proclaimed these words to His followers but before He said them His cousin John the Baptist proclaimed these words first. But even before John spoke these words preparing the way for Jesus. Many years before the Prophet Isaiah said that people would be walking in darkness but they would see a Great Light. The Great Light He was referring to is Jesus.
Yesterday we read that Jesus was with God in the beginning and He is the Word of God. When we read God’s Word it exposes the darkness, it will reveal the lies and schemes of the enemy. The scriptures teach us that it will even expose the lies and motives that are deep within our hearts. Unfortunately in today’s scripture Jesus gives us some sad and alarming news.
John 1:9-11
The one who is the true light, who gives light to everyone, was coming into the world. 10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him.
ALERT!!! DO NOT MISS THESE WORDS!
Jesus Christ is the Light of the World! Isaiah, Micah, Zechariah, Daniel, King David and John the Baptist all proclaimed that Jesus, the Messiah would come into this world. Yet we read, His (Jesus’s) own people rejected Him. Please understand this verse is a matter of life and death. The rejection of Jesus Christ will reward you a place in Hell, separated from God for all of eternity. God sent Jesus, The Light of the World for all people to believe and be rescued from the darkness. But He also gave each one the decision to trust or reject Christ. God does not send anyone to Hell but He will let you make your own choice and receive the consequence.
What can we learn in these three short verses? First, have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ? Are you walking in His Light? If not, please contact me and we can talk about it! If you have trusted in Jesus, you are the light of this world. People need to see and experience the Light that lives in you. They need to see that the Light of Jesus is greater than the darkness of this world. Anyone who rejects Jesus will be separated from God for all of eternity. Jesus Christ is coming again! You are living today to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ. My friends prepare the way of the second coming of Jesus!
Father, thank You for Jesus! Thank You for making a way into Your glorious presence. I pray for myself and all who may read these words. May we walk with boldness and courage as we share your love and salvation. As we trust and obey You, I pray others will see Your Light and place their faith in You. Today is the day of salvation! Thank You Jesus!!
