“Spirit of Truth”
This year is quickly coming to an end. I hope that you have grown closer to the Lord Jesus Christ. This year we have talked a lot concerning God’s blessings in our lives. We established God is a good Father and He wants to bless His children. But He calls us into relationship with Him, He desires us to be His partners. When we do it position us to receive all God has for us.
In today’s scripture we read about one of God’s greatest blessing that He gives all who believe. I can testify personally again and again how this one blessing has totally transformed my life. I pray for all of you, let the Lord speak to you. Invite Him to come and transform your heart and mind through the Spirit of Truth!
1 John 2:26-27
I am writing these things to warn you about those who want to lead you astray. 27 But you have received the Holy Spirit, and he lives within you, so you don’t need anyone to teach you what is true. For the Spirit teaches you everything you need to know, and what he teaches is true—it is not a lie. So just as he has taught you, remain in fellowship with Christ.
The Apostle John begins with a warning. At this time there are people claiming to be prophets and teachers but are sharing lies. John calls them a type of the antichrist. Unfortunately these same type of people are here with us now. In my experience wherever God is at work the enemy is not far behind. Satan will always attempt to distract people from God’s truth and lead them astray.
But thank God, He has given every believer the Spirit of Truth. I mentioned in the introduction that this blessing transformed my life. Before Jesus called me by name and saved my life, I was my own truth. Seriously I made up truth as I went along in life. My truth was ALWAYS for my benefit regardless of how it would affect others. Tis would create stress and anxiety in my life simply because I was constantly needing to reevaluate my truth. But the moment I placed my faith in Jesus He gave me His Spirit, The Spirit of Truth. I no longer had the responsibility to establish truth in my life, Jesus Christ became my truth!
I remember reading John 14:6 Jesus is the Way, the TRUTH and the Life. This became a foundational truth in my life, a life verse if you will. When I read the Word of God, the Spirit of Truth would teach, guide and protect me from the lies of this world. The Spirit of Truth would reveal the lies I had been taught and set me free by His truth. This is what the Apostle John is teaching in these two verses. We all believe in lies at some level. Every sin that we commit is connected to a lie. Replace the lie with the truth and the sin disappears.
I believe living in today’s society with social media, lies are easily accessible. I certainly don’t believe all social media is evil but we need to be careful and evaluate all that we hear and read through the Word of God and The Spirit of Truth. Otherwise satan will distract you from a deep, intimate relationship with Jesus. Remember my friends, God wants to lead you down the best pathway for your life but that best pathway will ALWAYS be connected to His truth.

The title: “The Holy Spirit, God is for us.” You will not want to miss it. This is a truth that again has the potential to transform all that you do.
