“Provision for all, Abundance for some”
In the beginning God, He created the heavens, earth and all that is in it. Everything was created by Him and for Him. When God created everything before man He looked at it and said it was good. But when He created Adam and Eve He looked at them and said they were very good. He created man in His image and loved them with an everlasting love. He gave them the garden, in the garden was everything they needed in abundance. He gave them one command, don’t eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. As we know they ate and sin entered the world.
Why is this important? In the garden we see God’s desire and intention for His most valuable creation. It was a life of abundance and satisfaction in the presence of Almighty God. This was and is the heart of our Father in Heaven!
Today we read the words of King David and see the Lord’s love not only for those who believe but everyone.
Psalm 36:7-9
How precious is your unfailing love, O God! All humanity finds shelter in the shadow of your wings. 8 You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from your river of delights. 9 For you are the fountain of life, the light by which we see.
King David was in conflict most of his life. Even as a young boy he was in conflict with his brothers. I don’t believe David went looking for problems but because of his pure love and heart for God people didn’t like him. Satan would use people, tribes and nations to come against him hoping it would discourage and turn his eyes from God. But as we read the words of David, trouble would draw him closer to the Lord.
Today’s verse is two-fold, it speaks about the wicked in the world but also those who trust in God. When I read these words I immediately thought of John 3:16 “For God so loved the world.” God’s love is unfailing and it is eternal! His love does not change and it is available to everyone! David acknowledges God’s love towards all of humanity. Every man, woman and child living on this earth is a gift from God. The air they breathe, the food they eat and the water they drink is a gift from God their creator. God’s love reaches out to all of mankind.
In God’s perfect, unfailing and eternal love He sent Jesus to die so that whosoever would believe in Him will have eternal life. All are invited to come, believe and drink from the fountain of life. It is a fountain of abundance and satisfaction. Jesus said anyone who drinks of this water will NEVER thirst again. WOW, what incredible invitation! The fountain of life my friends will never run dry.
So let me ask you a question; are you drinking from the fountain of provision or the fountain of abundance?
