“Our Great High and Personal Priest”
Jesus Christ the Name above all other names. The only name where people can be saved. Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life, without Him there is NO salvation, No possible way to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. He is the Lord of all lords and King of all kings! Jesus was sent to this earth to demonstrate God’s love for all of mankind and provide the only way to Heaven. Jesus told His disciples; “if you have seen Me you have seen the Father.”
One of the Names of Jesus is Immanuel, which means God with us. Next month we will dive into this much deeper but today, take a moment and think about this truth. The Creator of the Universe, the One who breathes the stars into existence, the One who places a boundary around the oceans, the One who breathes life into every living creature. He came to be with us! He speaks with us and invites us to come into His presence and walk with Him. My friends let this incredible truth sink in! Now read today’s scripture!!
Hebrews 10:19-23
And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. 20 By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. 21 And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, 22 let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.
Today’s devotion is really a continuation of yesterday’s devotion. Therefore if you miss it, stop and go back and read it. It will give some valuable background for today.
The moment Jesus died there was a violent earthquake, the rocks trembled, the earth shook and the temple curtain was torn from top to bottom. As today’s scripture tells us, this opened a new and life giving way into The Holy Place. God Almighty through the death of Jesus Christ invites us into His presence. Jesus as our High Priest now rules over the house of God. When we believe in Christ’s finished work on the cross He invites us to come boldly into His presence. Understand what this means, sin can’t enter the presence of Almighty God. But when we believe we are cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. We are made righteous, holy and blameless through Jesus’s sacrifice. It is not about us but about the incredible sacrifice He made!
What we see in this passage; God our Father, Jesus our Savior wants an intimate relationship with each one of us. He made a way for us to come into His presence. It cost Jesus His life to provide this access. Yes Jesus is our High Priest but He is also our personal and intimate Savior. Don’t miss this powerful and life changing truth. We do not serve a distant and uninterested God. He loves us and wants to be with us! We can hold tightly never doubting to this hope, God is faithful and we can trust in His promises!
Just so there is no confusion let me make something clear. If you are truly believing that God loves you, Jesus died for you and He has given you the right to become a child of God. You believe that through His sacrifice and resurrection you have been forgiven, cleansed and set free from the power of sin and death. Your life will be transformed, you will be a new creation, set apart for God! You no longer want to follow your sinful and selfish flesh. Your desire is to submit to God, His Word and His Way. All of this happens because of God’s love toward you and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ!
Give thanks to the Lord for He is GREAT! His faithful love endures forever!
