“HOPE”

Thank you for joining me as we enter into the month of December. I am super, excited for this month’s theme and study. We will be reading, writing and meditating on scriptures about one of the names given to Jesus, (Emmanuel, which means God with us.)

This particular name given to Jesus is powerful! Even though this name wasn’t revealed until the Lord revealed it to the Prophet Isaiah, we see it throughout the Bible. Last month’s theme verse was, “be strong and courageous for the Lord is WITH YOU!”

When I think of the name Emmanuel, I immediately think of HOPE! Since God is with me, nothing is impossible! I pray that throughout this month you will experience the hope we have in the Lord Jesus Christ! He is Emmanuel, today, tomorrow and forever!

Isaiah 7:14

All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Emmanuel (which means ‘God is with us’).

If you have time read through Isaiah 7. You will quickly see that this verse is sandwiched between some negative situations. The kingdom of Israel was divided into the Northern region named Ephraim and the Southern region called Judah. Judgement was coming upon Judah and it was going to be devastating! But in the midst of chaos God gives them a word. “The Lord HIMSELF will give you the sign.” God is personally going to give His people a sign, it will be obvious, it will be miraculous. A virgin will conceive a child and His name will be Emmanuel (meaning God with us.)

If you look this up you will see many different people attempting to interpret this verse to mean other things. It may have been a dual prophecy, but without a doubt this was fulfilled by the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior!

My brothers and sisters, Jesus Christ is Emmanuel. He was born of a virgin, grew up walking with us here on earth. During this time He performed countless miracles, taught many lessons that astonished the greatest religious leaders of the time. He was followed, worshipped and loved by some. But most rejected Him and eventually crucified Him on a cross. He was buried in a borrowed tomb and on the third day He rose from the dead, just like He said He would. He is now seated next to His Father in Heaven, God Almighty. He now intercedes for all of God’s children. He refused to let us alone therefore He gave everyone who would believe His Spirit, therefore He will never leave us nor forsake us!

Jesus Christ, Emmanuel is our glorious hope!
