“Holy Spirit = UNITY”

Father, in the Name of Jesus, the Name above every other name, the only name that man can be forgiven, saved and set free. I pray for myself and everyone reading today’s devotion. May we set aside our own agendas and the circumstances that surround us and focus on You! May we choose to be still and know that You are God, You are Great! Holy Spirit, I ask you to speak to each one of us according to your truth and perfect knowledge. Thank You, blessed be the name of our Lord!

Jesus came to this earth as a baby but still one hundred percent God. Therefore His name is Emmanuel, (God with us.) Jesus died for the sins of the world, resurrected and now lives with His Father in heaven. He promised not to leave those who believe as orphans therefore He gave us His Spirit to teach, guide, comfort and provide all that we need to live godly lives. As followers of Jesus Christ we lack nothing! Because He gave us His Spirit God EXPECTS His children to live in unity.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 17 God will destroy anyone who destroys this temple. For God’s temple is holy, and you are that temple.

The Apostle Paul was speaking to believers living in Corinth. They were arguing and fighting among one another about multiple issues. But this particular time they were fighting about who were best followers of Jesus. So in today’s scripture Paul is rebuking and giving them a warning. Let me just say; the church at Corinth was not a perfect church and the church today is not either. This warning given to the church is just as important today as it was then. Times change, technology changes, everything changes except human nature! This is why we need to walk in the Spirit and not our flesh!

When we walk in God’s Spirit we walk in unity with one another as believers. Paul begins His correction by reminding them that the Holy Spirit lives in them, therefore they are the temple of God. Anyone destroying the temple the Lord will destroy them. My brothers and sisters be careful how you treat one another. We are told to build one another up and many times in our conversations we end up tearing one another down. In doing so we are destroying God’s temple. God makes it crystal clear in this passage, when we do this there will be consequences. God’s temple is holy, we are His temple and so we are holy. We need to be careful how we treat God’s holy temple.

Are you are part of God’s temple? If you can say yes to this question, I want to encourage and challenge you. Do not forsake the assembly of God’s people. If you know someone that claims Antioch as their church encourage them to attend and take their place within the temple. How can we truly be unified if half the temple remains apart? It is not about how many people we have attending but it is about the power of Unity. When even one person is missing from our fellowship we are lacking perfect unity. We love, want and need you!

How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!
