“God’s Glory gives us Confidence”

Your faith in Jesus Christ can move mountains but your doubt and fear can create them. Jesus invites us to come to Him, He promised that His ways are easier. He has given us countless, precious promises inviting us to share in His divine nature and to give us strength and power to overcome the corruption caused by human desires. So many of these promises are conditional. This simply means that we must partner with God in order for these promises to be fulfilled.

Today we are reading from the Book of 2 Corinthians. This book was written to the church in Corinth and all believers to come. If you read both 1 & 2 Corinthians it will not take you long to realize the believers there were flawed. (A lot like today’s church) Often times we can read that they became distracted and discouraged. But take your time and read these encouraging words Paul writes to the church.

2 Corinthians 3:9-12

If the old way, which brings condemnation, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new way, which makes us right with God! 10 In fact, that first glory was not glorious at all compared with the overwhelming glory of the new way. 11 So if the old way, which has been replaced, was glorious, how much more glorious is the new, which remains forever! 12 Since this new way gives us such confidence, we can be very bold.

The Apostle Paul is comparing the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. Why is this so awesome for us? He says that the old way was glorious and it was. Seriously, think about it, how many awesome things did God do? We began this month’s study reading God’s words to Joshua. Be strong and courageous, I will be with you wherever you go! These words were not spoken by Moses, a prophet or even inspired. The scripture tells us God Himself spoke to Joshua, WOW!!! Even so, Paul tells us; the glory of the old way doesn’t even compare to the glory of the new way. This is INCREDIBLE  NEWS!!

We know that in the old way people needed to consult the High Priest to access God. But in the new way Jesus taught His followers to pray; “our Father who lives in Heaven.” The result was this; an invitation to enter into the Holy of Holies, the very throne room of God. When Jesus died He physically proved this to be true when the curtain on the temple was torn from top to bottom. Yes the new way was so much more glorious. In the old way the Spirit of God would come and go upon His people. In the new way God’s Spirit comes and dwells within every believer. God’s Spirit gives us constant confidence as we trust Him!

My friends, this new way, this glorious way lives in you! Don’t let lies, fear and doubt place unneeded mountains in your way. Through the love and power of Jesus Christ you are more than conquerors. Be confident, bold and courageous as you walk in the Lord’s power. Nothing is impossible with God!

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is GREAT! His faithful love endures forever!!
