“God’s Grace is all you need”
The last few days we have been looking at scriptures emphasizing the amazing and abundant grace of God. Yesterday I said, God’s grace did not only save you but it gets us through everyday.
I have no idea how many people are reading this devotion today but I am sure many of you are struggling with life at this moment. You think of the word abundant and immediately think about your abundance of problems. Yes, we still live in a fallen and sinful world. Jesus assures us that in this world we will have problems. When we read the scriptures we see Jesus, a perfect and sinless man dealing with daily struggles and difficulties. But thank God there is hope!
2 Corinthians 12:9
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.
The Apostle Paul experienced multiple challenges throughout his ministry. He was stoned, beaten, shipwrecked, bitten by a snake and was put in prison (unjustly) many different times. But in today’s scripture he is speaking about a thorn in his side. We are not told what the thorn is but it was causing the Apostle some serious discomfort and problems. He is begging God to take it away, praying three different times. Rather than taking the thorn away we read God’s response in today’s scripture.
God tells Paul, “My grace is all you need!” Many other translation say, “My grace is sufficient!” I am sure at that moment this is not what Paul wanted to hear. He wanted the pain and the difficulty to go a way. My friends have you been praying for a difficult situation but it just doesn’t seem to go a way. The Words of the Lord are for you today too. “His grace is all you need.” What God is saying, His grace is greater than anything we come against in this world. God is teaching us, His power works best in our weakness. Paul finally came to realize that in His weakness God was glorified.
Our purpose is to glorify God in our lives. When we are always strong so many times people will see our strengths or abilities and miss the power of God in our lives. But when we can glorify God during the times we are weak others take notice. It gives us the opportunity to share God’s love, power and salvation.
My brothers and sisters regardless of your circumstances at this moment good or bad God’s grace is all you need! He will be glorified as we humble ourselves under His mighty power! Blessings!!
