“Abundant Wisdom”
Are you struggling to make an important decision? You maybe diligently asking what does the Lord want me to do? What is God’s will concerning this area of my life. I believe all of God’s children struggle with this throughout our lives. It is a good struggle and question. We should desire the plan of God in our lives.
The scriptures teach us that God, the Creator of all things knows the beginning to the end. Therefore He knows the outcome before it ever happens. He already knows the decision you and I will make. He also knows if you are going to seek Him in this decision or not. We are also told in scripture that we can know the will of God. I think it is important to look at Romans 12:2 before we read today’s scripture.
Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
James 1:5, 17
5 If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.
17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.
In life we face some extremely difficult and complicated circumstances. He is a faithful Father and wants to help His chosen children. We are promised, God wants to lead us down the best pathway for our lives. We read in Romans 12:2 we can know what is God’s will for our lives. This is an incredible truth and promise but you will see there is an invitation to partner with God to receive such knowledge. We must be willing to avoid the behaviors and customs of this world. And allow God to transform our lives. Only then is God obligated to fulfill His promise in our lives.
The words James writes to us today are similar. God wants to give good and perfect gifts to His children. He wants to help in every area of our lives. Therefore if you have a circumstance in your life and you have no idea what to do. God invites you to seek Him for wisdom. Unfortunately to many times as people we seek everything else before our Father in Heaven. This only leads to frustration and disappointment. Remember He knows what is around the corner, He knows what is best for us and He wants to help. But we must ask, we must trust Him for the best solution. His answer may not make sense at first, it may not be what we want but it will be the BEST!
As I write these words I can’t think of any better way to conclude this devotion than by sharing another word from our Father in Heaven.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.
