“Living in the overflow”

God is good all the time, all the time God is good! I remember hearing this said shortly after the Lord called me to Himself. It was a common phrase in our church. But these are not just words to make ourselves feel better, they are absolutely true. We can read or listen to testimonies from people around the world, different cultures, customs and languages, “GOD IS GOOD!

I was thinking about my own personal life as I was writing in my journal this morning. I was remembering all the times God rescued me from my own decisions, the times He has blessed me even when I really didn’t deserve it. My friends you may get distracted, tempted and even fail but you don’t have to live there. God is good, He loves you with an unfailing love, get up and let Him take control. Otherwise you continue to drift further away.

Psalm 23:5-6

You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil.My cup overflows with blessings. 6 Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever.

I am assuming as you read these words you are alone, spending time with Jesus. Let me ask you a couple of questions, no one is around, it is just you and Jesus. Remember He knows your heart and thoughts so be truthful. Do you really believe God is good? Do you believe God loves you with an unfailing, perfect and eternal love? Do you believe God has the BEST pathway for your life and He wants you to live in His abundance? As I said this is between you and God, no one else!

Jesus promised us, we will suffer here on this earth, we will have enemies, we will be persecuted for His name sake. But in the midst of all of it He is with us. He is preparing a feast in the presence of our enemies, He is anointing us with oil. What David was saying, even in the difficult times God is blessing His children. We can truly have joy, satisfaction and abundance in the suffering. Why, because the goodness and unfailing love of God continues to pursue us. Our greatest hope as followers of Jesus, I will live in the house of the Lord FOREVER!!

Listen, no one raises their hand and volunteers to suffer, well Jesus did! But it is not your normal human reaction. Suffering is a byproduct of living in this sinful and fallen world. God is working it out for our good because we love Him and we have been called according to His purpose. Therefore we can rejoice, pray and give thanks even in the most difficult and dark times!

Let’s choose to live in the abundance of God’s perfect, eternal and everlasting love! Blessings!!
