“Never Stop Praying”
Always rejoice, never stop praying and give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for all who are in Christ Jesus.
Do you realize we can accomplish this because of God’s great mercy towards us? Jesus assures us “in this life you will suffer but be of good cheer I have overcome the world.”
Today we look at a Psalm written by King David. We read words that parallel the life of Jesus. What we learn is the importance of never giving up regardless of the circumstances. My friends when we find ourselves in what feels like impossible situations this is the time to really practice;
Resting in God’s presence
Trusting in God’s promises
Walking in God’s power
Psalm 69:13-15
But I keep praying to you, Lord, hoping this time you will show me favor. In your unfailing love, O God, answer my prayer with your sure salvation. 14 Rescue me from the mud; don’t let me sink any deeper! Save me from those who hate me, and pull me from these deep waters. 15 Don’t let the floods overwhelm me, or the deep waters swallow me, or the pit of death devour me.
If you want to truly understand today’s passage you need to read the entire chapter of Psalm 69. You will quickly see King David struggling and begging God to rescue him. You will also notice God is taking His time, does this feel familiar? Most of us know God is on a different time schedule than we want, but His timing is perfect. When we are suffering and dealing with difficult circumstances we want God to hear our prayers and respond immediately. We want to be taken out of the fire or as David said rescued from the mud and deep waters.
David’s first words in verse 13, But I keep praying! Yes, life is hard and David feels like God has abandoned him but he will trust in God’s promises. He will walk in God’s power, in His unfailing love toward David. David refused to give up regardless of what his circumstances looked like.
Our circumstances do not change the character or truth of God. God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He may not respond in the way we would like but He will always respond according to His unfailing love, perfect knowledge and will. He will lead His children down the best pathway for their lives. But we can never give up! God’s mercies are new everyday, great is His faithfulness.
Today I will share a message at Antioch titled; “Stop Hiding” I would encourage you to come and listen. I hope to see you, have a blessed day!
