“O Grave where is your victory?”

Blessings my friends and family, thank you for joining me today. Yesterday I had the privilege to be a part of a graveside service. I was asked to speak and share a few words from God’s word. The woman who passed was a woman of faith and great service to others. Although for many years she has been bedridden. It was a beautiful service full of words of love, admiration and loss. But as her body was entering the grave I thought to myself; she is not even there. Yes her old decaying body was going into the ground but she was alive with Jesus. I then said to myself, “O grave where is your victory?”

In today’s scripture King David confirms this truth. Trusting in Jesus has taken away the victory of death and the grave. Take a look at these encouraging words.

Psalm 16:9-11

No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice. My body rests in safety. 10 For you will not leave my soul among the dead or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.

11 You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.

Some say the words we read today are prophecy spoken about Jesus. This may certainly be true, but it is true for everyone who believes in Christ. Jesus taught us, “I Am the Resurrection and the Life the one who believes in me, although he dies he will live!” If you have placed your faith in Jesus your heart can be glad and rejoice because although you die you will live!

The scriptures also teach us, we will be resurrected with Christ Jesus. Our bodies will not rot in the ground. God Almighty through the power of His Word and Spirit will guide you through life. He will lead you into the joy of His presence. If this truth doesn’t excite and encourage you I am not sure what will.

My brothers and sisters, In Christ we can say, death where is your sting, O grave where is your victory?” This world is not my home and I am waiting for that glorious day when the Lord will take me home. I will then be face to face with my Savior, the One who died for me and live in paradise forevermore!! Hallelujah, what a Savior!!
