“Endless Praise”
Will you determine in your heart today, regardless of what happens today you will praise the Lord!
King David was having a rough day. Not only was the enemy coming against him. Some of the people David trusted and were his friends were speaking against him. Along the way they even gathered up some people David didn’t even know to come against him. The worse part, it felt like God had abandoned him. Of course the Lord did not but nevertheless David felt this way. What can we learn from the cries of David?
Psalm 35:27-28
But give great joy to those who came to my defense. Let them continually say, “Great is the Lord, who delights in blessing his servant with peace!” 28 Then I will proclaim your justice, and I will praise you all day long.
I want to encourage you to take a few minutes and read all of Psalm 35. It will help you to understand what we should do when trouble comes our way. In the New Testament we are told, we re not fighting flesh and blood but powers of darkness and principalities. But many times it feels like people are coming against us. That is because they are being used by the enemy to distract you from Jesus!
David’s immediate response was to pray to the One who can help. Notice David’s prayer, he really went on a rant to God. He even accused the Lord of not doing anything. But remember it was between him and the Lord. God can take our frustration and anger. It is much better to vent to him than to those around us. Jesus knows what it is like to have a bad day, a day in which it felt everyone was against Him. Jesus chose throughout His trial to not say a word.
David shared his feelings and concerns with the Lord in verses 1-26. But then, I believe he took a deep breath and said, I am not alone. There were people who came to my defense. He then asked the Lord to bless them with joy and let them see, experience and proclaim the greatness of the Lord! He asked the Lord to give them peace in the midst of chaos. He then committed to praise the Lord all day long for His faithfulness!
As I read these words today I was reminded of the will of God for His people.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Always be joyful. 17 Never stop praying. 18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
