“Words of Life”
My friends it is a new day full of opportunities to speak words of life. It was about 20 years ago, maybe longer. A question was asked in the Christian community, this question began a campaign throughout the US and some parts of the world. It is not going to translate properly in Spanish but I’ll explain. “WWJD” What would Jesus do? Needless to say this was great if people really wanted to know and do what Jesus would do. Unfortunately this turn out to be more of a financial gain rather than a spiritual movement. Why do I bring this up today?
As I said yesterday on to many occasions my words have gotten me in trouble. What if I would take the time and really think about the words of Jesus. How would He respond if He was in my situation? I’m absolutely sure He would respond in truth, love and kindness. Today we read the words of King David, I find them most interesting. Let’s take a look!
Psalm 35:27-28
But give great joy to those who came to my defense. Let them continually say, “Great is the Lord, who delights in blessing his servant with peace!” 28 Then I will proclaim your justice, and I will praise you all day long.
David was chosen and anointed by God to be King of Israel. He was not perfect but God said “he was a man after My heart.” David was the Lord’s servant and God promised to protect Him if David trusted Him. Not only did the Lord promise to protect David, the Lord promised to bless those who came to David’s aid. In Psalm 35 David is at battle and he is calling for help. David asks the Lord, Judge those against me and bless those who help me.
Here in verses 27 and 28 we see David asking the Lord to give those who have come to his defense great joy. These were the people who came to David’s side physically or spiritually. Not everyone could fight next to David but they could pray and verbally support David, rather than criticize and complain.
Brothers and sisters we should be extremely careful speaking against those God has placed in a position of leadership and authority. Here we read, God delights in blessing His servants with peace. We all have the opportunity to pray for our leaders. We can speak words of life over them and let God do the judging. I know there are many corrupt leaders but we are told to pray for them.
Let the words of your mouth and the meditation of your heart be pleasing unto the Lord! Speak Life!
