“The Better Way”
It is Sunday morning, the day set aside to come together as brothers and sisters to praise our Lord. What an incredible privilege it is to do so. My friends, let me encourage you not to forsake the assembly of God’s people. I know many of you have busy lives, I am also aware we can worship the Lord anywhere and anytime. But we need one another, our coming together in love is a beautiful testimony to our families and communities.
Today’s scripture helps us understand the importance of humility. But like all things the Lord teaches us, He gives us the choice.
Proverbs 16:18-19
Pride goes before destruction, and haughtiness before a fall. 19 Better to live humbly with the poor than to share plunder with the proud.
Honestly, there is not much to say or write about this particular verse. It is simple to understand and is direct. Humility is a choice and becomes a way of living. Throughout scripture we see God blessing humble people and judging those who are arrogant and prideful.
Today you will have multiple opportunities to be humble or walk in pride. I hope and pray that today’s scriptures will speak to your heart and ring in your ears. If you choose to walk and trust in yourself, please don’t be surprised when destruction comes. God promises those who are proud to fall. Therefore when you choose to humble yourself expect blessings and honor. Why? The Lord has promised to do it!
