“Reflections”

Reflection is an interesting word. We can see a physical reflection or an inner reflection. A physical reflection is a copy or likeness seen in a mirror or shiny surface, it shows or expresses a quality.  But a inner reflection reveals what is within something or someone. The Bible encourages those who follow Jesus to take time for inner reflections. When we ignore doing this we can drift from the Lord and begin to believe the lies fom the enemy.

The last few days we have been challenged to be aware of our words because they reveal our hearts. We have also been told to guard our hearts. Jesus once said something that is quite interesting. He said; “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Therefore Jesus is warning us, we will choose our treasure and our hearts will follow. This will also reveal to others what is important to you!

We will read from Proverbs again today. Remember, Proverbs is a book giving us wisdom, principles and instructions. Today’s scripture is a powerful principle!

Proverbs 27:19

As a face is reflected in water, so the heart reflects the real person.

I have been with people who will say or do something that is rebellious, unloving or just wrong. After they do it, they begin to justify why and then they say these words, “well God knows my heart.” Yes He does much better than we know our own heart. He also knows that your heart reveals the real person!

Jesus has given us the instructions and example in the way we should live. He told us, “love one another the same way I love you.” When we choose not to, we better be quick to take responsibility of our own actions. We need to make it right with the person and God.

I believe taking responsibility of our own personal actions is a huge step to becoming humble. My friends, it is not difficult. We read today, “the heart reflects the real person.” “Jesus told us out of the heart our words come.” Therefore we can look at our actions and listen to our words and have a very clear indication where we are with the Lord. Of course you can ignore or excuse these indications but God knows.

Take a moment, be real, let God’s Spirit speak to you. Let Him reveal your true identity. The Word of God assures us, the Lord’s faithful love never ends, His mercies never cease. Acknowledge, confess and turn from your own ways and let God transform your thinking. Humble yourself under His mighty power and let Him lift you up. Don’t continue to listen and walk in the lies of the enemy. As a child of God you have been set free!
