“Self Examination”

It is a glorious new day, a gift from our Father and Creator. I hope and pray we live this day to its fullest. Taking every opportunity to glorify God and make Him known!

Throughout the Bible we are told to exam ourselves. Are we living our lives for the glory of God? Are we giving thanks to Him by the way we are living? He has done everything for us, He has given us His Spirit. His Spirit is working in us giving us the desire and power to please Him. We lack nothing therefore we have NO excuse!

Today I want to encourage and challenge you to evaluate your life according to these two short verses. Remember Jesus said, “the two greatest commandments are; love God and love people!” I will assure you unless you are walking in the truth found in these two verses you are not loving God or others!

Philippians 2:3-4

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. 4 Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

These verse don’t need a long commentary. They are extremely clear and understandable. Take a moment and ask yourself; do these characteristics describe my life and attitude? Better yet, ask someone who truly loves and knows you.

My brothers and sisters understand these characteristics may not be visible one hundred percent of the time but are they consistent in your life? In Psalm 119:5 it is written; “Oh that my actions would CONSISTENTLY reflect your decrees.” The Lord knows our hearts and motivations, we can’t hide anything from Him. We may be able to trick others and live like hypocrites but God will ALWAYS reveal the truth.

Take some time to evaluate your attitude. We will talk more about this tomorrow.

Father, in the Name of Jesus search our hearts, reveal anything that prohibits us from living and loving like You. Dig deep and reveal beliefs that may be in conflict with Your truth. Lord, may we humble ourselves under Your mighty power so that at just the right time we will be lifted up! Thank You Lord, blessed be Your glorious Name!
