“Saved by Grace”

Wow, what an awesome truth! We are told God demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus Christ, His only Son, to die, to take upon Himself our sin, to forgive and set us free while we were still sinners. Think about it for a moment, Jesus did all of this because God loved us so much. No wonder Jesus told His disciples, “don’t rejoice because the demons listen to you, rejoice because your name is written in heaven.

Today we look at one of my favorite verses in the Bible. I remember memorizing this verse shortly after meeting Jesus. It is a scripture that helps me to remember that the only reason I am saved is because of God’s love for me. It is not about me or what I do. It is all about God’s perfect and everlasting love for me!

Ephesians 2:8-10

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

I am saved by grace when I believed, I can’t take credit for it. It is a gift from God! I share on many occasions, the only work God requires from us is to believe in the One He has sent, BELIEVE IN JESUS! So when I believe what am I believing?

– Believing in God’s perfect and everlasting love for me.

– Believing in the finish work of Jesus Christ.

– Believing, God’s way is best and perfect for me.

– Believing that I live and breathe to bring God glory.

When we are told to believe in the One He has sent, it is more than a head knowledge belief.

Genuine belief in Jesus Christ will result in true transformation. This is why in verse 10 we are referred to as God’s masterpieces, we are created anew in Christ Jesus. My friends when we enter into a genuine relationship with Jesus our lives are dramatically different. We receive a new identity, a new purpose and a new destiny! We will want our lives to reflect the love and character of Jesus. Our number one goal will be to glorify our Father in heaven and make Him known.
