“Commissioned in Christ”
King David wrote these words in Psalm 103. Let all that I am praise the Lord; with my whole heart, I will praise His holy name. Let all that I am praise the Lord; may I never forget the good things He does for me.
God is good and He is worthy of all honor and praise. Take a moment and think about all the Lord has done for you, all that He is doing and all that He has promised to do in the future. Give Him thanks and praise His name!
If you are reading this and you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, you have been commissioned. You have been chosen, called by name not only to be a son or daughter of God but His partner. Through our union with Jesus Christ we have been adopted into the family of God. Therefore we are brothers and sisters, we serve the same God and His Spirit lives in each of us. Check out today’s scripture!
2 Corinthians 1:21-22
It is God who enables us, along with you, to stand firm for Christ. He has commissioned us, 22 and he has identified us as his own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts as the first installment that guarantees everything he has promised us.
The very first thing we read, it is God who enables us to stand firm for Christ. It is not about you and I, it is the power of God living in us. God Almighty commissioned and identified US as is own. Just as we don’t choose our family we don’t choose our brothers and sisters in Christ. But we are told to love, encourage, teach, build up one another. Jesus said they will know that we are His followers by the way we love one another. The Apostle John said, if you do not love your brother or sister the love of God is not in you. We are not fighting one another, through the blood of Jesus we are in the same family, on the same team! Our goal is to glorify God and make Him known!
My friends we can do this because God has given us His Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit binds us all together in love and unity. Take a look at verse 22, the Holy Spirit is the first installment which means there is more to come. Seriously, more to come, what an incredible truth! God will fulfill all of His promises, He is faithful and true!
There are only two days left in 2025. I know many who are reading this that may have been hurt by someone in the church. I am sorry you experienced that situation. But I want to encourage you to forgive, let God’s Spirit bring healing. Holding on to the hurt, bitterness or anger will destroy you. I read a quote a long time ago and I wrote it down and it hangs above my desk. “Never allow the things people do to me to be greater than what Jesus Christ has done for me.” Unfortunately even as believers we can hurt one another but Christ came to forgive, heal and love. Keep your eyes on Him, remember that you are loved, chosen and commissioned by Him. As God’s children we are in this together, unified through His Spirit to glorify our Father in Heaven!
If you are holding onto hurt, bitterness, anger or unforgiveness I plead with you. Go make it right and let the Holy Spirit deliver you, let Him bring healing, freedom and peace! Father in the Name of Jesus I pray, give this person courage to seek forgiveness and reconciliation. Thank you for Your love, mercy and forgiveness. AMEN!!
