“Who is Greater?”

Are you 100% sure that if you were to die today you would go to heaven? I hope and pray you are! If you can answer yes to this question God’s Spirit lives in you. He does not come and go, He will never leave you or forsake you! He will teach and guide you in God’s truth.

Today we will read the words written by the Apostle Paul inspired by God Himself. I encourage you as you read these words let God’s Spirit speak to you. Many believers are trusting and relying on their feelings rather than the truth. The words we read today can truly transform your life!

Galatians 5:16-18

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. 17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. 18 But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses.

The moment God saved you were given a new identity and purpose. You are now a child of God and you remain in this world to glorify God and make Him known. We are told that we are no longer our own but we have been bought. Therefore God Himself placed within each of His children the Holy Spirit as a guarantee of this transaction and promise. The Holy Spirit has many roles within our lives. He will empower, teach and guide us in ALL truth.

As today’s scripture says even though we have the Holy Spirit we also have our sinful nature. Yes we have been set free from its power but it still remains. Therefore we have a battle going on within us. So, I ask the question again; “who is greater?” Before you just quickly shout out an answer, what does your attitude and actions say? It is easy to say, of course God is greater than my desires. But does your life confirm your words? At the beginning of this year I made a statement, “don’t tell me what you believe, let your life demonstrate what you believe.”

The Holy Spirit living in every believer is always working giving us the desire and power to do what pleases God. Our responsibility is to let God’s Spirit lead us. God is inviting us to be His partner. We must choose to let the Spirit do His work. When we do, we are given an incredible, transforming promise! You will not be doing what your sinful nature craves. Listen my friends, this is not difficult to understand or do. You can either submit to the Holy Spirit or rebel against Him. If you want to rely on your traditions, rights or feelings continue to do what you are doing. But if you want to honor God this is the only way you can accomplish it.

How will you know if you are letting the Holy Spirit guide your life? This too is simple, the Holy Spirit is producing the proof in your life. Your life will consistently reflect the fruit of the Spirit, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Any attitude outside of these will be produced from our flesh. If you believe God is greater than your flesh, let Him do His perfect work in your life! As you do you will experience God’s presence and power like never before.

Have a blessed day, walking in God’s Spirit!
