“Prophecy Fulfilled”
Greetings and thank you for joining me. Often times I write about the simplicity of trusting Jesus. Personally I hold tightly to the Words of Christ found in John fourteen-one, “don’t let your hearts be troubled, trust in God and trust also in Me.” It is easy to let our hearts be troubled if we are not focused on Jesus. This life has the potential to create chaos, concern and confusion.
In today’s scripture we will see the power, authority and sovereignty of Almighty God. This is only one of approximately forty-eight prophesies fulfilled when Jesus was born. I think for many we have no problem trusting God with spiritual matters. But when it comes down to worldly situations we feel like we are on our own. Understand I know this is just a general statement, but think about it. How many times when things seem to be going wrong at work, in school, with finances etc. We immediately get in the “fix it” zone. We begin to look for solutions, talk to others for help and then when it doesn’t work out we cry to God.
My hope and prayer throughout this month as we continue to study the power of Emmanuel. We will all trust in Jesus a lot more and that our hearts will become troubled a lot less!
Micah 5:2
But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf.
Most of us know that Jesus was to be born in Bethlehem. But at the time of the miraculous conception of Jesus. Joseph and Mary were living in Nazareth. With all the uproar of Mary’s pregnancy I don’t think either one was thinking they needed to get to Bethlehem. Honestly, I’m not sure if either one really knew what was happening. They heard the angels, they choose to be obedient but understand all of it, I don’t think so.
But God had already said that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem, my friends if God said it, He will DO IT! This is so important to trust and believe! God cannot and will not lie, EVER! Therefore we see our perfect and sovereign God in action. He plants the idea in the Roman Emperor Augustus’s mind, let’s do a census throughout the Roman Empire. Therefore requiring every person to return to their own ancestral town. Joseph was a descendant of King David therefore he would need to go to Bethlehem. God chose to work through a pagan, an enemy to fulfill His plan. God is not only sovereign over the spiritual, He is sovereign over ALL.
Therefore we can trust all of God’s promises and walk in His power because He is faithful yesterday, today and forever! He will do whatever is needed to fulfill His word to us if we simply trust Him. As we know Joseph and Mary journeyed to Bethlehem and God was faithful to provide and protect them. When we choose to trust in the Lord’s ways He will also protect and provide for us!
My friends, listen to the voice of your Savior today. “Don’t let your hearts be troubled trust in God and trust also in Me!”
